Making my own
soap
Soaps are
very useful for us humans, but what about making your own soap? This text will
talk about how to make your own soap with basic ingredients.
What we need
To start, you will need your ingredients: Water, oils, essential oils, caustic soda (NaOH), and
some dye. Pretty easy? Don’t get too excited. You will also need gloves,
protective glasses, a blender, measured cups, a mold, a measuring scale, and a
thermometer.
The making
In this
method you can switch oils for others one if you would like. In this one, we will
use olive oil (80,23g) coconut
oil (120,35g) (hard) and some soft almond oil (66,86g)
Firstly, we
will calculate our ingredients. You can calculate your water (93,60g) and then
put it in a cup. Then you will put your caustic soda (36,27g) in the water
while blending it in. Be sure to not reverse this process because it can be
dangerous and do not touch it while it over 50 Celsius.
Secondly, put
all your oils together with the good amount needed and for the coconut. If you
are using hard one like me, you can put it in the microwave for 1 min or more (if
needed), but it needs to stay under 54 Celsius. The final item you will require
your essential oil and your dye I recommend you only put a little in it.
Thirdly you will need to mix your items until it gives the trace or a podding
state.
Finally, after
all these steps are done be sure to put it in your mold then cover it for 48 hours.
After this time, you can remove it from the mold, but it may not be ready, yet
you might need to wait 4 weeks before using it because of the caustic soda.
To end this text, I recommend you check some tutorials like videos and others soap making texts and be careful around caustic soda. Good luck with your soap.
