For the Super Bowl a lot of companies have created an ad to sell their product on this special occasion. The company Doritos has used this occasion to make a commercial. In this text I will talk about why I think this advertisement is very funny and how they created a hilarious commercial.
To begin, I think this ad is very funny. I have watched this advertisement twice and laugh both times at the end. I think the concept of showing a serious situation like an ultrasound which should normally be an emotional moment with a funny and chill thing just as Doritos chips is way funnier than telling a joke. For example, they have used a dad who’s so decompression and dumb, to show us that Doritos chips are a non-stressful snack to eat. Comparatively to Popcorners add, who uses something so fantastic, they have used a relatable moment like this one. Posteriorly, I like this fact : the mom and the nurses were so discouraging of him that they didn’t even notice what could happen. They have shown that Doritos where so good even a baby in his mom bump would sneak out of a cozy space just to eat. The scenario is so crazy. Even if it’s just a dumb chips ad, you’re captivated by the plot. I personally love ad that uses humor as a way to catch our attention.
To continue, I think that the graphic design of this ad is very enjoyable. They have chosen colors that don’t attract our eyes and are boring. The boring green of the walls and jacket made pop the red of the Doritos bag and chips. The character’s facial expression is nicely chosen and the fact they used an actor who looks so unintelligent like the dad, makes it even funnier. For example, the main character of this commercial is the dad. We can see that the way his hair is messed up and that he has a small ugly beard show that he’s dumb. If I had to make my own add, I would use this one, as a reference. I think that everything in this clip is chosen specifically to be funny.
To conclude, I think this advertisement is very funny. I like the graphic design and how it was played by the character. It’s by far one of my favorites teasers those days. Finally, is there another advertisement as funny as this one out there?
